Elandskloof
At 700 metres above sea level, this East-facing block near Villiersdorp lies in what resembles a volcanic crater. Surrounded by some of the Cape’s highest mountain peaks - which are often covered by snow during winter - this is the coolest vineyard that we work with and produces a wine that is all about finesse and freshness. A virtually continental climate allows for advantageous winter dormancy. Soil type is clay with a lighter topsoil of sandstone and quartz, with the late-ripening fruit developing delicate, elegant and often savoury characteristics. This is our Mabalel vineyard.
